Donations: We are accepting good quality used furniture donations during store hours.
We accept good quality furniture of minimal or no repair. We accept small electronics such as TV’s, Microwave’s, Lamp’s etc. that are in good working order. Unfortunately we CANNOT accept appliances. If you have any questions on what we would take accept please give us a call, we would love to hear from you.
We have launched Rising Above Second Chance Furniture our new social enterprise. This will both strengthen our program and fill a need in the community. “Social Enterprise” is a term used to describe business ventures operated by non-profits which serve a social goal or need.
Second Chance Furniture serves three purposes. It gives our participants of Rising Above employment readiness skills, Job Training, Job Coaching, and Practical Experience. It also provides constant financial resources to Rising Above so that better and more programs can be offered to our participants. As well, it serves the community two-fold, first it provides great affordable furniture for our community and second it gives a home to pieces of furniture that otherwise would have ended up in our city dump.
The Vision Statement for Rising Above Second Chance Furniture states… Rising Above Second Chance Furniture is a social enterprise whose purpose is to:
- Provide an employment training program that allows our participants to move into successful career oriented jobs.
- Sell gently used furniture at affordable prices through the operation of a retail store.
- Recycle gently used furniture.
- Be a profitable and sustainable business that contributes to the resources of Rising Above.
